Frequently asked questions
What is the largest piece you can forge?
30 tonnes in a single piece. The longest is 16,000 mm, on round shafts, rolls and step shafts. The largest diameter is Ø 3,000 mm, on rings, tube sheets, crane wheels, gear blanks and non-standard flanges.
Can you machine what you forge?
Yes, in the same plant, with more than 90 large-capacity CNC machines: lathes to Ø 1,200 mm × 16,000 mm, vertical turning lathes to Ø 5,000 mm × 3,000 mm high, machining centres to 3 m × 12 m × 2.5 m, grinders to Ø 1,100 mm × 10 m, deep-hole drilling to 10 m.
Which steels do you forge?
Carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel.
What testing can you carry out in-house?
Ultrasonic flaw detection (Einstein-II DGS), magnetic particle (Magnaflux yoke, AC/HWDC), Brinell hardness (KB-3000), impact (KL-300), tensile, compression and bend on a 200 kN universal machine, metallurgical microscopy, profile projection and coordinate measuring.
What heat treatment do you offer?
Normalising, annealing, quenching and tempering. Gas-fired bogie furnaces to 1200 °C with multi-zone monitoring, electrical tempering furnaces to 800 °C, and polymer and oil quench tanks each 2.5 × 3.5 × 9 m.
